Dermatology Medical Assistant Responsibilities:
Greet and escort patients to examination rooms, updating medical histories and EMR charts.
Explain treatment procedures and address patient phone calls.
Request prior authorizations and send electronic prescriptions.
Ensure all reports are prepared prior to appointments.
Assist in exams and collection of lab specimens (e.g., skin tissue).
Support in-office procedures like biopsies, chemical peels, and microneedling.
Maintain clean and organized exam rooms and work areas.
Set up and sterilize medical instruments and equipment.
Manage inventory and prepare materials for procedures.
Escalate workflow concerns to the Director of Operations or Physician.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Clinical Supervisor or Director.
What do you need as a Dermatology Medical Assistant?
High school graduate or GED equivalent
Certified Medical Assistant
2 years MA work experience is required
Pervious work experience in Dermatology is required
Previous work experience scribing is required
Preferably can commute to other office locations as needed. Our other offices are located in Spring Hill, Trinity, Land O Lakes, & Clearwater!
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Strong computer proficiency in Word, Excel
Ability to plan ahead, organize and manage multiple priorities
Familiarity with EMR system, EMA, is a plus but not required.
Preference with experience assisting in Mohs surgical procedures.
