Press Operator Responsibilities:
  • Set up and operate an aluminum extrusion press according to written specifications and established operating standards.
  • Change dies based on production requirements and written specifications.
  • Use an overhead crane to safely remove hot dies from the heated oven.
  • Place dies into the press tool holder and ensure tooling is the correct length.
  • Enter die numbers and monitor gauges to ensure the automated system is properly controlling temperature and the extrusion process.
  • Perform quality checks for surface condition and product specifications.
  • Cut samples after every 7th billet to check product tolerances.
  • Lubricate equipment and perform light preventative maintenance.
  • Remove metal scraps from the press using appropriate tools.
  • Notify the Supervisor or Maintenance Department when equipment requires service or repair.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Follow all company safety rules and procedures and report unsafe conditions to a supervisor.
What will you need in this Press Operator position?
  • Previous manufacturing, machine operation, or press experience preferred.
  • Ability to learn and follow written production specifications.
  • Ability to perform quality checks and identify product defects.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Must be comfortable working around heat, machinery, noise, and dust.
  • Must have a flexible schedule and be available for weekend work.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toed shoes, and long pants.
Work Environment:
  • Manufacturing environment with exposure to temperature extremes, including heat and cold.
  • Exposure to machinery, noise, dust, and hot metal.
  • PPE must be worn at all times as required by company safety policies.
