StaffEx is seeking multiple assistant teacher's for Infant, Preschool and Head Start's under the supervision of the Director, to provide preschool age children the opportunities to enhance their social and school readiness skills. Provide developmentally appropriate activities in the areas of social, cognitive, language, and physical growth. Use differentiated instruction to guide and support all children in their growth and development.
High School Diploma or higher
Required 45-hour DCF Trainings

CDA (Child Development Associate) Degree preferred, or a minimum of 2 years experience in early intervention, early childhood, child care and/or with children with developmental delays or disabilities- Head Start Assistant Teacher's only
Assist in the implementation of the cognitively oriented curriculum.
Assist the Teacher in interacting with children in the classroom to aid in the education, social, and emotional development of the child.
Assist the Teacher in preparing lesson plans and leading activities which are in accord with the philosophy of the curriculum model.
Assist the Teacher in the daily evaluation of the children's operation in the cognitive skill area and in areas of social and emotional development.
Assist the Teacher in arranging the classroom into well-defined areas and in equipping these areas with manipulative materials.
Assist the Teacher in daily observations of the children in their natural environment and document those observations weekly into the Teaching Strategies Gold assessment tool to be used to complete a quarterly checkpoint on each child in the classroom.
Supervise directly and assist children in family style eating, health care and rest activities.
Supervise/assist in mealtime cleanup.
Interact with and supervise children in outdoor activities.
Monitor the classroom and offer suggestions for improvements.
Provide direct classroom supervision and related activities in the absence of the Teacher.
Assure that the student/teacher ratio is always met .
Recruits parents/volunteers to work in classroom.
Assist Teacher with reports on the development of the children and classroom activities.
Attend conferences with parent concerning the progress and development of child.
Attend required professional and educational conferences and meetings.
Perform related duties as assigned.
Willingness to upgrade skills.
Must be able to effectively communicate information and ideas both orally and in writing.
Administration has the authority to assign additional duties as seen fit for the benefit of the organization
Observe, see, hear, and respond to children's needs, emergencies and conflicts that may occur in the center or on the playground
Lift a minimum of 45 pounds from the floor to a waist-high table when necessary
Reach a child 20 to 30 feet away within 30 seconds without endangering the staff person's health
Crouch to a child's height, maintain eye contact at the child's level, sit on the floor and stand tall enough to reach children on the highest piece of equipment, and be able to quickly transition from one position to another
Be physically, visually and auditorily aware of the cognitive, social and physical needs of children
Communicate verbally and writing in English to the degree that child, parents and other staff members can understand and respond
