StaffEx is seeking an Infant/Toddler Teacher to care for, supervise, and manage a class of either Infants (6 wks-12 months age) or Toddlers (12-24 months) while providing developmentally appropriate activities in the areas of social, cognitive, language, and physical growth

The principal duties of the Infant/Toddler Teacher include: conducting focused observations of children, develop action plans, carry out activities daily and evaluate the effectiveness of child development activities, ensure the safety and well-being of the children, and maintain regular communication with parents both written and verbal

Qualifications:
  • Associate Degree in related field or CDA (Child Development Associate) Degree + a minimal of
  • 2 years' experience working with infants and toddlers in a child care setting
  • Required 45-hour DCF Training including Infant and Toddler Appropriate Practice and Understanding

Job Requirements:
  • Operate the classroom in compliance with all Pinellas County Child Care Licensing Standards
  • Maintain age appropriate lesson plans for the children using the guidelines of the Creative Curriculum
  • Take daily observations of the children in their natural environment and document those observations weekly into the Teaching Strategies Gold assessment tool
  • These observations will be used to complete a quarterly checkpoint on each child in the classroom
  • Create an open, friendly, and cooperative atmosphere in which children and families feel comfortable and secure
  • Provide experiences that promote individual expression through conversation, play and creativity
  • Provide a variety of language stimulation activities
  • Ensure that parents receive adequate information about their child's experiences at the center through daily contacts and regularly scheduled parent conferences
  • Maintain written records designed to evaluate each individual child
  • Promote and nurture parent-child bonding and relationships
  • Greet students and their parents warmly and with enthusiasm each morning
  • Initiate classroom activities daily (sing-a-longs, art projects, sensory exploration, outdoor stimulation)
  • Display children's creative art work on bulletin board, changing monthly (when age appropriate) Observe children to detect signs of illness, injury, abuse, neglect, emotional disturbance, or other special needs, and report these signs immediately to the Director and/or Center Nurse
  • Use equipment and supplies safely and conscientiously, keeping physical environment clean and orderly
  • Contribute to the operation of the center by participating in staff meetings and sharing information gained through attendance at workshops and professional reading
  • Work as a member of a team to ensure continuity and a high standard of quality in all classrooms in the center


Physical Requirements:
  • Observe, see, hear, and respond to children's needs, emergencies and conflicts that may occur in the center or on the playground
  • Lift a minimum of 45 pounds from the floor to a waist-high table when necessary
  • Reach a child 20 to 30 feet away within 30 seconds without endangering the staff person's health
  • Crouch to a child's height, maintain eye contact at the child's level, sit on the floor and stand tall enough to reach children on the highest piece of equipment, and be able to quickly transition from one position to another
  • Be physically, visually and auditorily aware of the cognitive, social and physical needs of children
  • Communicate verbally and writing in English to the degree that child, parents and other staff members can understand and respond
